Satsuki Dote
Satsuki's tattoo journey began in 2019 in Honolulu, HI. As a child, Satsuki was fascinated with art and spent a lot of time drawing, inspired by Buddhist and Hindu temples. After receiving her first few tattoos as a teenager, one offered by a monk in a ceremonial setting, she was profoundly changed. Satsuki began to understand what tattooing could be and has been for centuries: a marker of individual identity and initiation of significant life transitions.
Her work consists of duality—fine and bold lines, black work, and black and grey shading with an oriental style approach. She enjoys creating pieces that convey a sense of strength, duality, and mysticism, something that stands up well over time. For Satsuki, having her art as a way to honor someone's journey is a blessing and the reason she loves what she does.
