Brit "Mythstickss"

Brit specializes in hand-poked tattoos and is in the process of learning machine tattooing. One of the aspects Brit loves about tattoos is their ability to tell stories. Tattoos are profound storytellers, each carrying its unique narrative, and Brit finds great joy in being a part of that process.

Her focus is on creating bold, ornamental designs and motifs.

Hand-poked tattoos are a timeless tradition tracing back to ancient cultures. Unlike machine-based methods, hand-poking involves manually pushing ink into the skin using a needle. Depending on the tradition, animal bone, stone, or thorns are used as the needle. This technique is just as permanent as using a machine. Despite being slower in application, hand-poked tattoos often offer a quicker healing time, typically within two weeks, because of their less abrasive nature to the skin.

To Brit, hand-poked tattoos offer a unique and distinct experience, embodying a hands-on process where every stroke of the needle is an intentional act of creation. There is a certain rawness to hand-poked tattoos that resonates with her on a deep level. As Brit continues to learn and train with a tattoo machine, she will certainly continue practicing hand-poked tattoos. For her, it is not about being better or worse; it’s about embracing the differences and appreciating the beauty in each approach.
