Working With Us

Thank you for considering a guest spot with us at KAPWA! We are thrilled at the prospect of hosting you in our Private Studio in the picturesque Honolulu, Hawaii. It is an honor to welcome some of the finest tattoo artists from around the globe, and we are committed to ensuring your potential stay is nothing short of extraordinary. Should you wish to invite or recommend other artists, please do not hesitate to inform us, and we will endeavor to accommodate your preferences. Feel free to reach out to us with any inquiries, suggestions, or concerns you may have. We eagerly anticipate the opportunity to meet you!

  • Shop minimum: $150

  • Commission structure: 70% for the Artist, 30% for the Studio

  • Hourly rates for artists range between $150 and $300, contingent upon skill level, experience, following, and demand.

  • We recommend a minimum stay of 3 days, with a maximum duration of 2 months (unless otherwise arranged with the owner).

  • As a private studio, our walk-in traffic is limited, typically a few per week.

  • While we cannot guarantee a fully booked schedule, guest artists have historically experienced significant success by promoting their visit on Instagram 2-4 weeks in advance.

  • We are open from 10am - 7pm everyday but if you need to work outside of our normal hours, we can make sure you have access.

To reserve your spot, we require a $300 deposit, which will be credited back to you upon the conclusion of your stay.

 

The purpose of this deposit is to ensure mutual accountability. KAPWA utilizes these funds to promote your artwork. Should you need to cancel your reservation, kindly provide at least 30 days' notice for a full refund.

This allows you to talk about your design ideas, placement preferences, and any concerns you may have in advance. For other artists, the consultation happens on the day of the tattoo session. They use this time to finalize the design with you, discuss any last-minute changes, and ensure you feel comfortable and confident before starting the tattoo. This approach ensures that your tattoo experience at Kapwa Tattoo Studio is personalized and meets your expectations.
  • Can I see the design before getting tattooed?
    Absolutely! At Kapwa Tattoo Studio, we create a stencil or digital mock-up of your tattoo design for approval before starting the tattooing process. Depending on the artist and their work process, the design might not be ready for review until the day of the appointment or the tattoo will be freehand. You will have time to make any changes as needed. Your satisfaction with the design is our priority. If you're unsure which artist to choose, a member of our team will assist you in pairing with the artist who best meets your specific design and style preferences.
  • How do I prepare for my tattoo session?
    Prior to your session at Kapwa Tattoo Studio, we recommend getting adequate rest, eating a balanced meal, and avoiding alcohol or drugs. It's important to wear clothing that fully exposes the area where you will receive the tattoo. For tattoos on areas like the chest or torso, we provide pasties if you are comfortable using them to ensure modesty. Additionally, privacy partitions are available upon request to ensure your comfort during the tattooing process. This preparation helps facilitate a smooth and comfortable tattoo experience at Kapwa Tattoo Studio.

    For the best results, it's advisable to visit Kapwa Tattoo Studio after enjoying the beach. If go tot he beach before your session, ensure the area that is to be tattooed is protected from the sun. We cannot tattoo Sunburnt Skin. After your tattoo, protect your fresh tattoo from sun, sand, and water to promote proper healing and maintain its vibrancy.
